So amazing! The photos don’t do the loft justice and the place is very nice. Well decorated, nice layout, & plenty of towels. The location is great with plenty of tasty restaurants either in the building or within walking distance. Katy is very responsive & helpful when answering questions. (Helpful hint for people checking in after the building closes, ask for the bike rack lockbox combination for the keys to get in the building.) We loved it & would stay there again!

Great place to stay in Traverse City. It was the first time we’ve stayed at the Commons. Very cool apartment. We really loved it and it’s so close to town and everything else. Would definitely stay again. Host was super response and helpful too!

This girls trip was made all the more special with a comfy homelike yet in-the–city feel with this cute and chic loft condo – – loved the vaulted ceilings and use of every inch of space to accommodate a 4-day stay. We loved the location by all the shops/restaurants right in the building on ground floor. Other the confusion over a second set of keys via lock box, which we really did not need anyway, communication was very smooth and management was responsive.

We had a wonderful stay at the loft! The place is super clean and beautifully decorated. The check in process is a bit complicated but the host sends very clear instructions on how to get inside. And while you are staying in a complex with public access, the residences are very secure and especially quiet at night. We had no issues with loud noise while trying to sleep. The complex and the surrounding areas are incredible! Lots of shops, dining, and outdoor areas to hangout or go for a stroll in. The old historic charm of the entire place really makes the loft such a unique stay and I cannot say enough good things about it! The host was also very communicative. Probably one of the best hosts I've had in terms of communication. And while our stay was a complete breeze, I have no doubts should you run into issues that the host would be quick to respond and help you out. I would definitely recommend this airbnb and would absolutely stay here again!

Lovely condo, if you can get in! We were given the incorrect code for the elevator. Thankfully, a kind resident helped us AND let us use his code for the weekend. Also, there's an evening curfew unless you have the key to the outside door "from the lockbox". Um…no lockbox to be found. We called the customer service number on the listing and the man was quick to answer, but had no solution, and no idea where the lockbox or key was. So, our evenings were cut short by our 9:30 curfew Thursday and 10:30 Friday night. The condo was clean, bright and in a great location, but we were afraid we'd be sleeping in the car with our kids if we couldn't get back in.

Hey Lisa, I am sorry you had this experience with checking into our condo. We have confirmed with the building manager that the code that was provided for the elevator was the correct code. There may have been a malfunction with the elevator at that time or an input error. As stated in the check in instructions, there is a lock box on the coat bureau next to the front door of the condo, that holds a key to the exterior doors of the building. Upon an emergency, we keep two lock boxes on the exterior of the building. I am so sorry for the miscommunication over the phone, as info for after hours building entry is recorded in the checkin instruction as well as the extra information given about the condo. We appreciate your feedback and will address our guest communication quality.

This renovated loft in Building 50 at Grand Traverse Commons (formerly the Traverse City State Hospital) was the perfect setting for winter holiday in Traverse city. There are great restaurants, breweries, and shops right in Building 50 or nearby buildings. There are nice trails on the grounds with beautiful views of Traverse City, Grand Traverse Bay, and Boardman Lake. Downtown (with the State Theatre, many microbreweries, restaurants, shops, and West Bay) was a 30-minute walk away, so it was possible to make this a car-free vacation once we got to the loft. On our first evening in the loft, it was nice to be able to walk downstairs in the same building and enjoy a delicious meal at Trattoria Stella. The loft itself was quiet and relaxing. The high ceilings made the loft feel spacious and the tall windows let in lots of light. The bedroom upstairs was comfortable and spacious with its own sitting area, TV, and bathroom.

This was the perfect location for a girl's getaway to Traverse City. The shops and restaurants in the building were wonderful. I highly recommend taking the historical tunnel tour! The apartment was beautiful with tons of natural light and everything you could need.

Easy check in and information given prior to check in. The way the building is laid out, it wasn't easy to know where you were going but the instructions were clear and made it easy to find. A lot of natural light in the unit was nice as was having the option of using the elevator to the 3rd or 4th floor. Location was great. Easy to get to nearby areas like the Leelanau Peninsula or downtown as well as many options for food, drinks, and shopping in the building or in walking distance. They had recommendations of things to check out in the area. We also did a tour of the building which was very interesting and we would highly recommend!

We always stay at the Commons and this was our favorite condo so far. Cozy loft style so we have room to spread out. The only cons: the host provided so much instructions to check in that it got a little confusing about whether to go to the third floor or fourth floor and where to find keys, etc. Also, the TV in the loft is old so it was very slow to pull up streaming services and it would often lag. Finally, make sure to bring your own pillows. The ones provided were super flat. Other than those minor things, we had a perfect stay.

The location was perfect and the unit was clean with great decor. We had everything we needed to have a lovely stay. The restaurants and shops in our building were amazing. Checking in and out was a breeze. The spiral staircase may be a limitation for some,but added to the cool loft feel.

Great, unique location. The Commons is an experience within itself, in addition to all of the great things to do and see in Traverse City. Check-in was easy with good security. It was so cool that morning brunch was as simple as taking the elevator ride down to the main floor, which also came in handy when entering my name into the wait list at the brunch restaurant. Instead of having to stand around and wait, I went back up to my room to hang out with friends, which was very nice. I would definitely stay here again.

The room is in an old, redone state hospital/asylum (which I didn’t realize), so the building is definitely older and sort dark/creepy at night, especially if you’re alone. During the day, it’s just like the photos! The one thing, there is a door directly next to the bed that leads to the hall/elevators, and the lock is weird. I had to get a friend to test it from the outside to see which way I had to orient the lock to ensure it was inaccessible from the outside at night. Bathroom, shower, amenities were all great, as was the kitchen. Parking is good at night when shoppers/diners leave, but there may be a small walk if you leave during the day. Clearer instructions on locating the dumpsters specifically would’ve been helpful as I circled the lot a few times. Check-in was also confusing. Despite this, the location was convenient and walkable, and the neighbors quiet. Red Spire is great for breakfast btw, check them out!

The condo is located in the Commons which has many features to it. There is coffee place, several restaurants, a bakery, a place to sip wine and great walking trails and grounds. Not far at all to the downtown shops and restaurants. Easy access to M-22 that takes you to Sutton Bay and Leland. The condo was clean and quiet.

My husband and I needed an easy weekend getaway, so of course we thought of Traverse City! We’ve been frequenting The Village at Grand Traverse Commons for years and have stayed in this exact condo several times. It’s easy to get to, very clean and plenty of space. We love how close it is to shops and restaurants on campus, it makes going out for drinks much more enjoyable knowing we can walk back to our room. We had a wonderful weekend and would highly recommend visiting and staying in this beautiful condo!

Loft was beautiful and nicely decorated. It was also very clean. Located right inside of building 50 so you have restaurants and shopping practically right outside you front door. Beds were comfy. Home was well equipped with things needed for the stay. Would definitely stay again!

The room was just as expected and well appointed. The decor is tastefully done, and has a nice Detroit theme throughout playing on the 313 room number. The towels were soft, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was very nice. The space is unique and has excellent character because of occupying two levels. The brick that was once part of an attic really draws you in along with the windows snd skylights. There were some very minor issues with our stay (mainly the elevator code was not up-to-date, but has since been corrected), but Bayshore rectified them and made sure we were completely satisfied even after we had finished our stay. I would certainly use them again and plan to in the future.

Very clean and in a great location. We didn't leave the property one day due to snow and road conditions, but there were plenty of great food and shopping options right there. Mattresses were quite firm, but our group of 3 had plenty of space and were very comfortable.

This is in the historic Traverse Asylum. it is close to downtown, but still *likely* need to drive. pros: very cool place very clean location is good for local shops/restaurants walking distance to salt to sugar and left foot Charley's parking in the area included washing and drying onsite and a card is provided by the host cons: pricey a drive from downtown traverse a historic asylum (could be a pro if you like haunted things, we just weren't expecting) the beds and pillows were not the most comfortable the Airbnb is run by a management company so kind of lacks that personal "bnb" touch

Beautiful place in the very cool TC Commons. Loved the loft-style rooms above the living room. Kitchen would have been great for a longer stay. Always lots to do in TC. Currently, the bed pillows are terrible. Bring your own. Haha Otherwise, everything was gorgeous and clean. Never could get the elevator to work for second level of condo. Thankfully I have recovered from a foot surgery I had recently, but would have been in trouble if I had needed it. Would have been good to know there was a Keurig. They only provided coffee for one day—literally two pods. And had only one tiny creamer pack. Most places provide coffee for the entire stay. All of these things are small infractions. The place is gorgeous and nice place to stay away from the bustle of downtown TC.
