Sandpiper Cottage 3

Cottage was perfect for the family and the beach was great. In town, but outside of town enough to not be too busy. Will definitely be back!

This was a nice little cottage. It’s part of a collection of cottages and apartments and has a beautiful private beach on Lake Michigan. The area is nice and it’s about a 10 minute drive to downtown Traverse City. The place is small, but my girlfriend and I had more than enough room.

The wall air conditioner was loud and completely inadequate. It felt like 80 when I got there and never blew enough air to cool the entire cottage. The ac was located right over the head of the bed. Between the loudness and the air blowing on my head, it was not practical to use overnight. The maintenance guy cleaned the filter. When that didn't make any difference, he said, "it (the ac) probably just needs to be replaced at this point". Also, I found a bug in my bedding. I checked out after the first night.

Hi Darlene, Thank you for your feedback and review. During your stay we have on record that you were having issues with figuring out how to turn/operate the AC unit correctly. When our team found out you were having issues we had an emergent AC repair man come to the unit to fix the issue that evening. Our team was prompt in responding to your complaint. The place of the AC unit has never been an issue in the past so I am unsure why that was such a bother to you. We additionally supplied you with a new box fan to use during your stay. All of our AC units here at the Lakeshore Resort are serviced regularly and up to date. The unit was inspected and cleaned before your arrival with zero signs of a bug. When we asked you to supply us with a photo of the bug you refused. We care deeply for our guests experiences to be a positive one, although we feel that your terms for leaving were not reasonable or fair as we tried everything to make your stay comfortable. Our team is always communicating in a kind and respectful manner. Thank you for understanding.

Overall, we liked this small cottage. The location is great, right on the beach and within biking distance of downtown Traverse City. The cottage was very clean. Lots of linens were provided. The front porch is quite nice, however, since the resort is located on a busy road, there was a lot of road noise. Would have given it a higher review, however we had trouble connecting to the Wifi (which was a problem since we’re from Canada and had no cellular service). Also, the bathroom is very tiny and could use an update.

We really enjoyed our time in Cottage 3 Description indicates bathroom is small - and it is! Worked fine for us but just keep in mind. This cottage is adorable! All the windows open for a great breeze. The traffic from the nearby road is loud. We didn’t find it disruptive but we had the windows closed and a fan going. But it can get loud. This didn’t outweigh the beach though! Perfect sand, private beach with great lawn chairs and beautiful water We would definitely come back!

We booked this as a last minute vacation for Memorial Day weekend. We absolutely Loved the location. It was quiet and private and everything we were looking for. Would absolutely stay there again and would recommend.

Nice place and a very good location. The new owner seems to be moving the facility in the right direction and will be updating the last 2 cottages soon. Overall a positive experience.

Pros: Beach, location, parking, fairly clean (coffee pot still had coffee from prev. tenant) Cons: Only one air conditioning unit right over the bed, blowing down on you all night and very noisy. Rest of cabin extremely warm. Bathroom is EXTREMELY small (had to turn sideways to walk into it). Larger person would not be able to get in. Bedroom is very tiny; bed against wall on one side, and less than two feet on opposite side (bathroom door could not open completely). Dresser was not usable as bed was in the way. Mattress was awful and clearly old (dip in the middle so that is where you would end up). Office being remodeled on one side, dumpster on the other. Noise level from these two things did not make for a relaxing or peaceful early mornng.
