The Loft 14

The place is really cute and very cozy. Also, very convenient to Traverse city downtown and on the water which was lovely. We wished we had access to the fireplace, traffic outside was a bit loud as the place is in the building closest to the road, and the Wifi worked quite slowly for the TV which we weren't able to use our first night. Overall it fit our needs, was very cute and really enjoyable!

Loved this place! Perfect for a trip to Traverse City! Easy access to the surrounding city and downtown, and the private access to the beach was worth the stay here. Definitely recommend!

The unit I stayed in was small but had everything I needed. There was an issue with the air conditioner that was resolved quickly. It is a bit noisy since it is right on the road but if you keep the air conditioner running it helps. The beach is very clean and the property is well maintained.

El departamento es muy poco confortable para 2 personas, la cama aunque era matrimonial solo se puede acceder a ella de un solo lado y eso lo hace muy incomodo. Las sábanas estaban con pelos, polvo y algún bicho, que le provocó a mi esposa un salpullido y muchas picaduras de insecto. La limpieza del edificio donde esta el departamento es muy deficiente. No aguantamos mas que 2 noches y tuvimos que cambiarnos a un hotel y la gente de Bayshore no tuvo ni una consideración para reembolsarme lo que pagamos. No es recomendable este departamento. NO LO RENTEN

Overall we were happy with our stay in this quaint “attic” as we called it. The location was exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed the beach which was nice to come back to after spending the day out and about. We even took the opportunity to rent jet-skis from the neighboring resort. There was plenty of bathroom towels and bed linens which was a nice surprise as i usually have to ask for more towels. Our check in didnt go so smooth as we arrived around 11:30pm and had no idea where our room was located. Our only gripes about our stay was how uncomfortable the bed was, and how the space itself is not tall person friendly. The bed was actually full size, NOT a queen and both of our feet hung off the bed. We knew it was small, but we smacked our heads on the ceiling in the kitchen countless times. Tall folks beware. Overall, we would stay again if they got a better bed.

When I booked this, I wasn't expecting large or fancy but I was expecting it to look as clean as the photos and that was simply not the case. The floors were very dirty including large stains on the carpet next to the bed, a stain of some kind on the bed sheets, and dirt marks on the bed skirt. It was clear no one even bothered to vacuum between guest status. The kitchen was not even equipped with spoons and the freezer was filled with ice with food stains on it. There were no shades on any of the windows to block out light or give privacy in the sleeping area at night. This is the first time I've ever given a negative review like this. My hope is simply that they fix these things for the next guest. Had it been clean as it appears in the pictures, we would have stayed.

The description of the unit matched our stay. Very small, studio loft above the office of the resort, close to the street. The beach is walkable across the parking lot which was the greatest perk of staying here. We enjoyed using the beach. There were no windows coverings on any windows in the unit. This was addressed by the host when they saw we hung a blanket for privacy and to attempt to block the sun. They offered to send someone to hang blinds but at that point we only had one day left, and I didn’t want to be bothered with construction of hanging blinds while on vacation. So I declined the offer. Unit smelled of moth balls, had a stained up carpet in the center of the main area, shower curtain paper thin. Cable went out frequently, I recommend bringing your own device for streaming if you like to wind down with TV at bedtime. Overall, the stay was okay, simple improvements and better cleaning would make this place feel more comfortable.

My wife and I booked a stay here but when we arrived we decided to cancel our booking. There are a lot of places to book in Traverse City. This place has a decent location, but it depends on the unit you get. Our unit was right by the highway, as opposed to other units that are further back and closer to the beach. If you stay in this unit, expect highway sounds. If you are thinking about staying here, you should be aware that the photos do not accurately depict the feel of this room. This place is functional, but I would not say it's very cozy or comfortable. It's really quite small with low ceilings and felt pretty dark. The pictures make the walls and space feel much newer and brighter than it actually is. When we got in the room, we also found that on top of the radiator there was a fan-blown space heater. The radiator wasn't working and so we would have had to use the space heater, which was also quite loud. Also, while some may be able to manage it, the bed was too small for us to share. Overall, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have other options. If we hadn't paid so much for two nights, I would say this is a fine place to stay, but it just isn't worth it for what you get. We opted to book a hotel last minute and it ended up being about the same price for a much better experience. We also had a frustrating experience with management. They ultimately gave us a refund, and they didn't have to do this so we are glad we got something back. But, the communication felt misleading. They told us we would get a full refund minus the cleaning fees and I tried to confirm that it would include everything we paid, which they confirmed. Only after we book somewhere else using this information do we find out they won't refund air bnb fees. No one violated any official policy; we just felt misled.

I was so excited to have booked what appeared to be a beautiful spot on the lake for my girlfriend’s birthday. Unfortunately, the listing of this property turned out to be pretty misleading and led to a less than satisfactory stay. 1.) This property is a loft, perched above the main office and is pretty much built for hobbits. My gf and I are both 5’6” and still hit our heads on multiple occasions. 2.) If you’re traveling with small children, an elderly family member, or anyone with physical disabilities, be warned that there’s a massive and steep staircase up to the apartment that isn’t disclosed in the photos. While the climb up isn’t bad, there’s very little space between the steps and the walkway, so you could easily fall down the stairs while trying to walk from the bed to the kitchen or bathroom. 3.) Check-in instructions weren’t clear and we searched for a while before realizing our unit (that looked lake-front from the photos) was actually at the back of the parking lot behind the office building, overlooking the busy highway that you can hear clearly from the building. There is an small view of the lake from the photos but there is much more parking lot between you and the view than depicted. Kind of a mood ruiner. 4.) A fisheye lens has definitely been used in the photos, as the space is much smaller than it appears. It would not be comfortable to do any more than sleep in. 5.) The shower isn’t pictured because it’s a small 2x2 square. Fun aside, as a small human, my knees and forehead could touch the wall while on the toilet. 6.) The air conditioning wasn’t turned on before our arrival and the unit was steaming hot. By the time it was bedtime for us, the small wall unit hadn’t cooled the place down. 7.) There aren’t basic staples that are typically included at Airbnbs of this price. For example, there’s pots and pans but no basic oil or salt & pepper. The sheets were scratchy as well. Overall, I can honestly say I’ve never paid more for less at an Airbnb. Traverse City is great. Find another place to more fully enjoy your stay here.
